8 Real WWE Couples Who Became Partners For Life

The World Wrestling Entertainment is a world of its own. Wrestlers who join the organisation have to live two lives, one outside the ring and one inside (also known as kayfabe). Every week there are different narratives, people who are good and worth cheering for and those who behave like villains to get booed by the audience.

Two performers coming together to form an on-screen couple also adds significantly to certain storylines and can lead to some of the all-time high feud. However, every now and then the dual lives of the wrestlers collide and true and genuine relationships get formed.

Here are five such wrestling couples who met through the show but became partners for life:

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon

Once the top on-screen evil couple, now the power-duo which runs the entire company, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon married each other back in 2003 and have been in a happy relationship ever since.

While wrestler Triple H is one of the best in-ring performers of the business, the involvement of his wife Stephanie McMahon, in some of the most epic storylines during WWE’s ‘Attitude Era’ was absolutely entertaining and worth watching time and time again.

Undertaker & Michelle McCool

Mark Calaway, aka the Undertaker is known to be one of the most dedicated and trusted employees of the WWE ever since he made his debut over 30 years ago. He had formed a series of rules that he’d follow as long as he was an employee of the organisation and one of them included not dating a colleague.

But when Calaway got to understand Michelle, who is 15 years younger than him, and realised that she was also as passionate about wrestling as he was, he had no choice but to break his rule. The two got married in 2010 and welcomed their first child together in 2012.

Brock Lesnar and Sable

Yes, the ruthless Brock ‘Beast Incarnate’ Lesnar too has a heart. Even though Lesnar’s character shows how he can take on the world on his own, as a person off the screen, he is a gentle giant.

Back in 2006, Lesnar got married to his fellow WWE star Sable who was 10 years older than him. At the time, the news turned a lot of heads but eventually the gossip died down and the couple lives on happily.

Edge & Beth Phoenix

Married in 2016, Edge and Beth Phoenix have been vital parts of the WWE for years. They have two daughters and together, the family has gone through some major struggles including Edge’s complicated back surgery which forced him to retire from wrestling in 2011.

But with the support of his family Edge finally got over his injury and made a comeback to the ring in January 2020. Both Edge and Beth are esteemed members of the WWE Hall of Fame.

AJ Lee & CM Punk

During the final years of his career with the WWE, CM Punk experienced the kind of support from the fans like no other. On the other hand, AJ Lee who got into the company for a relatively short period of time, too became a top-tier performer in the women’s division.

Rumours of them dating surfaced in October 2013 and on June 13, 2014 they tied the knot, this day is special in both a good and a bad way as it is the same day Punk was handed his relieving letter from the WWE.

Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella

Half a decade ago, twin sisters Brie and Nikki Bella were part of two of the most high-profile relationships in the WWE with Daniel Bryan and John Cena, respectively. While the latter couple split up after six years of being together, the former ended up getting married.

Brie and Daniel live in Seattle with their baby girl Birdie. While Brie retired from active wrestling in March 2019, Daniel made a heroic return to the ring in March 2018, two years after being forced to retire due to head and neck injuries.

The Miz & Maryse

If there are two people in this world who know how to get a great negative reaction out of wrestling fans, they are the Miz and Maryse. They were brilliant on the microphone and were considered to be safe opponents to wrestle against.

So when they tied the knot in 2014, everybody knew they were perfect for each other. Married over five years, the on-screen heel-couple are blessed with two kids and love spending time away from the business.

Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins

Every generation of WWE superstars had that one power-couple which set itself apart from the rest of the locker room on the basis of their talent and hard work and for the current generation, that couple is Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins.

Two of the top stars of the company at the moment started dating a few days after the 2019 Valentine’s day, got engaged six months later and in May 2020, Becky announced on the show that Seth and she were going to have a baby.
