Let’s be honest, Sushmita Sen raised our expectations for how cool school or college teachers would be in our life. So, if any of my teachers have any complaints about why I was giving them irritated looks during the first period itself, go tell her. But I digress! Sen is an insanely talented actor who was underused by the Hindi film industry, leading to her, let’s say, premature retirement. And her social media interactions are great. However, I was craving for her to get back on the horse in this era of great content. And, not that I had anything to do with, she’s back with Aarya!
Going by the trailer, Aarya (Which is based off of a Dutch TV series called Penoza) will tell the story of a family woman played by Sen who married a big-shot who has some form of involvement in the drug business. There’s a school shooting and an attack on her husband and her family. That brings out her dark past and with the help of her colleagues she goes out to change the system and remind everyone who’s the Queen around here. It’s great to see Chandrachur Singh back in action. I think Manish Choudhary has gotten addicted to playing overlords. And it looks like Namit Das just can’t stop surprising us by showing new shades of his acting prowess.
Honestly speaking, I was getting goosebumps watching Sushmita Sen wreak havoc like the goddamn tigress she is. I love it when she retorts to Namit’s question that why didn’t she handle the business before by saying it’s because the business was handled by mards before. That’s some iconic shit right there. In addition to all that, I felt that Aarya was giving off a lot of Samay: When Time Strikes vibes in terms of evoking the same level of action and thrill. And in conclusion, I want to say that welcome back, Sushmita!
Aarya will stream on Hotstar from June 19.
