Well, what’s the alternative? Shrug, do nothing and wait until the next pandemic comes out of China’s vile, disgusting endangered animal trade?
They have gone and re-opened the markets now, and this is the second time! They promised to end them after SARS.
So if China is going to act like their fetishes for endangered animal parts are more important than the health of literally the entire fucking world, then they will obviously face the anger of the rest of the world.
That doesn’t seem unreasonable or unexpected at all to me, it’s cause and effect. China has to be forced to stop that trade.
After all, it’s not so much the “wet markets”, but the mixing of all those different species together, in a confined and unhygienic space, that caused this. Wet markets of local fish, crabs and lobsters are fine. Wet markets of rare species from all corners of the globe is the problem.
